September 19th is ‘International Snakebite Awareness Day’. This is a day of acknowledgment and education around snakebites. In the United States each year an estimated 7,000 to 8,000 people are bitten by venomous snakes. There are two venomous snakes native to Connecticut and you can see both of them at Riverside Reptiles!

Riverside Reptiles Education Center will be having a “Snakes of Connecticut” program on September 18th. You will be able to meet a number of the native snakes, including a copperhead! This program consists of a 45 minutes PowerPoint presentation with live animals at the end.

* Recommended for ages 10 and up.
