80% of our outdoor turtles are part of our rescue because members of the community could no longer care for them. As part of the Conservation and Education branches of our rescue, our gardens are not only a safe haven for surrendered pets, but a pollinator refuge. As a turtle gardener, you will help maintain a naturalistic and native environment for our turtles. Our dedicated Education staff are responsible for engaging with guests through group programming or one-on-one engagement. When our educators are off site, we still want to provide engaging, educational experiences for our guests. To uphold the Education branch of our rescue, you will work with the Education team to answer guest questions and do small, informal presentations. As a docent, you will help inspire the next generation of animal lovers. At RREC we periodically host fundraisers for our nonprofit. As an event volunteer, you will participate in a number of ways. By helping with setup, assisting front-end staff, or engaging with guests by answering questions, your help will contribute to raising funds that go directly towards our animals. This will allow us to increase our rescue efforts and build new habitats for rescued animals. RREC houses and provides support for our CERR rescue animals. By volunteering, you will be helping us to provide a quality experience for our guests as they enjoy the education center. We have a higher success rate providing education to guests when they feel the building is clean, tidy, and taken care of.
